Uma profile
Marche Lorraine is the kind of Uma Musume who seems to stand just half a step behind the curtain—quiet, elusive, and all the more memorable for it. A Junior Division student at Tracen Academy, affiliated with Team DREAMS, she is striking not because she demands attention, but because she transforms when she finds her own way to speak. In ordinary conversation, Marche is described as extremely shy. Yet through the handmade puppets she uses to communicate, a different side of her steps into the spotlight: cheerful, sociable, and unexpectedly radiant.
That contrast is her signature charm. Marche’s reserve is not emptiness; it hides a deeply expressive, creative heart. She is especially gifted in artistic work, with a talent that reaches beyond simple hobbyism into something vivid and technically skilled. Her profile notes that she supports her childhood friend Loves Only You through illustrations and even Live2D model creation for streaming activities—a wonderfully modern detail that makes her feel both delicate and capable, an artist working from behind the scenes while still leaving a clear mark on the people around her.
She cuts a neat, elegant figure at 157 cm, with a recorded three-size measurement of B90 / W59 / H89. She lives in Ritto Dorm, where her roommate is Kiseki, and she refers to herself as Watashi. Voiced by Tsukino Chikasada, Marche also carries a polished aesthetic identity in the archive, from her soft rose-toned image colors to a presence that feels gentle at first glance but layered underneath. Even her listed secret adds a charmingly specific flourish: when it comes to painting, she is at her best with acrylics.
Her relationships sketch the outline of a girl whose world may be quiet, but is far from lonely. Kiseki is not only a fellow Umamusume but her roommate, while Lucky Lilac is noted as a friend who admires Marche’s artistic skill; Marche, in turn, admires Lucky Lilac’s perseverance and courage. That mutual respect says a great deal about her. Marche may not be a loud personality, but she clearly recognizes strength in others—and possesses a creative strength of her own.
In public-facing terms, Marche Lorraine feels like a beautiful contradiction: timid, yet expressive; hidden, yet unforgettable; gentle, yet artistically assured. She does not blaze across the page with noise. Instead, she arrives with careful hands, puppet voices, painted color, and the quiet certainty that there are many ways to be luminous.

Marche Lorraine is a Japanese-bred bay mare foaled on 4 February 2016, bred by Northern Farm and raced in the colours of Carrot Farm Co. Ltd. Trained from Ritto by Yoshito Yahagi, she was by the great Orfevre out of Vite Marcher, a daughter of French Deputy. That pedigree combined elite Japanese stamina and class with an established international dirt influence, a blend that suited the medium-distance campaign on which she made her name.
Her overall record was 9 wins from 22 starts, with earnings recorded across both JRA and NAR racing. Marche Lorraine developed into a high-class mare rather than an early headline act, and her career arc was defined by steady progression before a dramatic rise to the very top level in 2021. That season brought the performances that secured her place in modern Japanese racing memory.
The breakthrough came first in the Breeders' Gold Cup in August 2021, a notable stakes success that set her up for a far bigger international target later that year. Sent to the United States for the Longines Breeders' Cup Distaff at Del Mar on 6 November 2021, Marche Lorraine produced the defining run of her career to win the Grade 1. In doing so, she achieved the major victory listed on her record and earned one of the most significant overseas successes by a Japanese mare of her era.
That Breeders' Cup triumph gave her an importance beyond her own résumé. Japanese racing had long pursued elite international dirt success, and Marche Lorraine's Distaff win stood as a landmark in that broader story. Her achievements were recognised at home with the 2021 NAR Special Award, reflecting how strongly her overseas breakthrough resonated within the sport.
She continued to compete internationally afterward, including a run in the 2022 Saudi Cup, where she finished sixth, before retiring from racing. Even in a career managed across different circuits and surfaces, her legacy rests above all on that unforgettable autumn of 2021: a Northern Farm-bred daughter of Orfevre, developed by Yahagi, who rose to capture one of the world's premier dirt races.
