Calstone Light O is one of Tracen Academy's most energetic and fearless sprinters, a Uma Musume who lives for pure speed. While many runners carefully calculate race strategy or conserve energy for the final stretch, Calstone Light O believes the simplest approach is often the best: run as fast as possible from the moment the gates open and never look back. Her straightforward philosophy, combined with boundless enthusiasm, makes her one of the academy's most entertaining competitors.
Possessing an almost limitless reserve of energy, Calstone Light O approaches every day with infectious optimism. She throws herself into training with complete commitment, often volunteering for extra sprints simply because she enjoys running. Whether it's early morning practice, hill training, or repeated gate starts, she greets every challenge with the same bright smile and determination. Her enthusiasm frequently motivates those around her, even if they struggle to keep up with her relentless pace.
Unlike many Umamusume who analyse every race in detail, Calstone Light O trusts her instincts. She believes hesitation only wastes precious seconds, preferring decisive action over careful planning. This sometimes leads her to take bold risks during competition, but it also makes her incredibly difficult for opponents to predict. Once she finds open ground, she attacks with explosive acceleration that can leave even experienced rivals scrambling to respond.
Despite her fearless attitude on the track, Calstone Light O is remarkably approachable away from racing. She enjoys encouraging younger Umamusume, happily sharing training tips and celebrating everyone else's successes just as enthusiastically as her own. Her positive outlook means she rarely dwells on defeat for long, instead treating every setback as another opportunity to become faster the next time she races.
As one of Tracen Academy's specialist sprinters, Calstone Light O has developed friendly rivalries with many of the academy's quickest runners. She respects any opponent capable of matching her early speed and delights in races where victory is decided by fractions of a second. Rather than viewing rivals as obstacles, she considers them partners who help bring out the very best in her own performances.
Her appearance perfectly reflects her lively personality. Bright, expressive eyes, confident posture, and an ever-present smile give the impression of someone constantly ready to spring into motion. Even standing still, Calstone Light O seems as though she's moments away from launching into another sprint. Friends often joke that keeping her sitting still for more than a few minutes is one of Tracen's greatest challenges.
Although cheerful by nature, Calstone Light O possesses an intense competitive fire whenever she steps onto the track. The moment the starting gates open, her playful personality gives way to complete focus. Every stride is driven by her desire to reach the finish line first, embodying the explosive speed and front-running style that made her real-life counterpart famous.
Among fans, Calstone Light O is admired as one of the franchise's purest representations of a natural sprinter. Her unwavering confidence, infectious enthusiasm, and love of fast-paced racing make her a memorable presence within the Umamusume cast. Whether charging to the front of the field or inspiring her friends through sheer determination, she reminds everyone that sometimes the fastest path to success is simply believing in your own speed.
Calstone Light O celebrates the excitement of sprint racing in its purest form. Inspired by the remarkable speed of the real racehorse, she demonstrates that confidence, determination, and wholehearted commitment can overcome even the toughest competition. Her cheerful personality and fearless approach to racing have made her a memorable member of Tracen Academy, reminding everyone that sometimes victory belongs to those brave enough to seize it from the very first stride.

Calstone Light O was one of Japan's finest specialist sprinters of the early 2000s, a bay stallion foaled on 3 May 1998 and bred by Daisaku Doi in Hokkaido. He raced in the colours of Katsumi Takano and was trained by Yoshihiko Kawamura. By Warning, the European Champion Two-Year-Old of 1987, out of Oguri Royal, with Royal Ski as his damsire, Calstone Light O inherited exceptional natural speed that would define his entire racing career.
From the very beginning of his career, Calstone Light O demonstrated a simple but devastating racing style. Breaking sharply from the starting gates, he would immediately seize the lead and attempt to outrun the field through relentless early pace. Unlike many sprinters who relied on a powerful finishing kick, Calstone Light O preferred to make every rival chase him from the opening furlong. His bold front-running tactics became his trademark and earned him a loyal following among racing fans.
He made his debut as a two-year-old in 2000 and quickly developed into a consistent performer in sprint races. Although he often faced some of Japan's strongest speed horses, his willingness to attack from the front ensured he was rarely overlooked. As he matured, his natural pace became increasingly difficult for opponents to overcome, particularly over the shortest distances.
His breakthrough at the highest level came during the 2002 Sprinters Stakes (GI) at Niigata Racecourse. Entering the race against many of Japan's best sprinters, Calstone Light O immediately established his customary lead before maintaining a relentless tempo throughout the race. Despite strong challenges in the closing stages, he refused to yield, capturing his first and only Grade 1 victory in impressive fashion.
The victory confirmed Calstone Light O as Japan's leading sprinter and highlighted the effectiveness of his fearless racing style. Rather than relying on tactical positioning or a late burst of acceleration, he simply trusted his speed and determination. His success demonstrated that even in elite competition, courage and commitment to a preferred racing style could still triumph.
Throughout his career, Calstone Light O remained remarkably consistent at sprint distances. His performances frequently placed him among the country's fastest horses, and he developed rivalries with many of the era's leading speed specialists. While he occasionally struggled when unable to dictate the pace, few horses could match him when allowed to settle into his preferred rhythm at the head of the field.
After retiring from racing, Calstone Light O entered stud duties. Although he never became one of Japan's most influential stallions, he remained respected for the exciting racing career that had made him one of the country's most memorable front-running sprinters.
Calstone Light O was almost exclusively a front-runner. His greatest weapon was explosive gate speed, allowing him to establish an early lead before maintaining an unrelenting pace throughout the race. He rarely altered this approach regardless of opposition, making him one of the easiest horses to identify during a race. While this aggressive style occasionally left him vulnerable late on, it also produced some spectacular victories and thrilled racing fans who admired his fearless attitude.
Calstone Light O remains remembered as one of Japan's purest speed horses. His victory in the 2002 Sprinters Stakes showcased the effectiveness of determined front-running and secured his place among the country's notable sprint champions. His straightforward, courageous racing style later inspired his portrayal in Uma Musume: Pretty Derby, where his energetic personality and love of sprint racing reflect the qualities that made the real horse so memorable.
